Seven women

A soccer field

The most important game of her life

Marta Buchaca writes for LaJoven PLAYOFF, a tragicomedy that reflects on the role of women and women's sports in a society that still manifests a fierce machismo in many areas. In the locker room will emerge the envy, dreams, doubts and fears of girls who just want to live from their passion.

PLAYOFF is the return of one of LaJoven's most acclaimed and longest-running productions in its ten years of existence. Marta Buchaca wrote the text during 2017, in the writing process workshops and interviews were conducted with the actresses of the project and with women soccer players. In November 2017 rehearsals began and in January 2018 it premiered at the Teatro Conde Duque in Madrid. PLAYOFF's first lineup consisted of actresses Cristina Bertol (Capi), Yolanda Fernández (Mami), María Romero (Julia), Neus Cortés (Nùria), Ana Escriu (Princess), Cristina Varona (Pippi) and Cristina Gallego (Toni). The premiere of PLAYOFF attracted a multitude of national and international media, both cultural and sports press. It then began a tour with more than 150 performances until January 2020 in which the actresses María Valero, Raquel Arroyo, Helena Lanza and Laura Montesinos joined the line-up.

In 2023 and thanks to the collaboration of the Getafe City Council, we return with a text that maintains its validity and a new lineup to continue bringing the debate on the role of women in sport and the prevailing machismo in society to the classrooms and their young people.
